Steph Curry makes surprise appearance at DNC

Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry gave a video message on the final night of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago touting his support for Kamala Harris.

Curry, who just won gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics, said he hoped the nation could unite under Harris-Wallace’s ticket.

“Together, we can do everything and continue to inspire the world. That’s why I believe Kamala, as president, can bring back that unity and move our country forward.” He said.

Curry mentioned the time he visited the White House with the vice president, which initially shaped his opinion of Harris.

“I went from Kamala to the White House last year with my team, and I can tell you one thing I knew then and I know for sure now: The Oval Office is the right fit for him,” Curry said. “Yes,” Curry said.

Curry’s stunning appearance comes days after GSW coach Steve Kerr addressed a packed crowd at the United Centre.

In his speech, Kerr was blunt and endorsed the Democratic presidential candidate.

“I can see the ‘shut up and whistle’ tweets being taken down as we speak,” Kerr said. It is very important not to speak in an election of this magnitude.”

He said he accepted the invitation to “step into a different kind of arena” and speak at the DNC because of his stance on leadership.

He said that I believe in a certain type of leadership. “I believe leaders should show dignity. I believe leaders should speak the truth. I believe leaders should be able to laugh at themselves. I believe leaders should care about the people and One should love those whom they are leading.”

Curry’s video comes two days after Kerr, his head coach, gave a speech in person offering similar support for Harris, a Warriors fan, and his running mate Tim Walls. There was a message. He didn’t reference his opponent, former President Donald Trump, until his final line, when he called out Curry.

Curry’s video was part of a long program that included actress Kerry Washington, the Rev. Al Sharpton, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Sen. Liz Warren, and finally, Harris, who accepted the nomination with a 41-minute speech.

This isn’t the first time Curry has spoken about politics, or even the first time he’s appeared at the DNC. He and his wife Aisha sent a video to the 2020 DNC endorsing President Joe Biden. He has also talked about entering politics himself after his playing career.

Curry and the rest of the Warriors visited Biden and Harris at the White House last year after their victory in the 2022 NBA Finals. He also met former President Barack Obama after winning the 2015 NBA Finals.

As for his titles in 2017 and 2018, the first year saw Trump publicly withdraw his invitation, but only after Kerry said he would not go to the White House.
